Restaurant Managers all over the UK are invited to compete in this prestigious competition to become the UK Restaurant Manager of the Year.
The competition has been run by the Academy of Food & Wine Service for seven years and aims to acknowledge and reward the best in the industry – whether small individual boutique establishments, popular fine-dining sites or those part of a larger food and beverage operation.
Anyone who fulfils the role of a Restaurant Manager is welcome to enter. Your job title doesn’t have to be “Restaurant Manager” but you should be undertaking the typical work and activities associated with the role: responsibility for the business performance and coordinating the entire operation of the restaurant.
How does the competition work?
First Round – September
The first round questions must be answered on the Entry Form or online by 16th October. The answers will be judged by the panel of judges made up from representatives of the Academy of Food & Wine Service, sponsors and industry experts.
The best candidates will be selected and invited to compete in the Final in London on the 23rd November 2015.
Second Round – October
Visits and Business Plan
During October, judges will interview the finalists to find out more about them and their backgrounds.
All finalists will be required to write a business plan, full details of which will be sent to the candidates after they are selected. They will be required to submit their business plans electronically on 16th November for judging. All business plans must be the candidate’s own work and calculations.
The Final – 23rd November
During the morning session, candidates will be interviewed by experts and tested on their Restaurant Manager skills. The top six candidates will then be asked to present their business plan in front of a VIP audience. (All candidates should be prepared to present and answer questions on their plan at the final.)
Awards Ceremony – 23rd November
All finalists will be invited to the Awards Ceremony.
The winner will be announced and presented with their award at the UK Restaurant Manager of the Year Awards Ceremony, Royal Garden Hotel on the evening of Monday 23rd November 2015, in front of a highly influential and inspirational audience.
